I started off my teaching career in 1981 teaching primary school children in South Africa, the UK and later in Switzerland. The political changes in South Africa during the 90’s afforded me the opportunity to teach children who had no knowledge of English. This sparked an interest in teaching English as a Foreign Language and led me towards my present job teaching English to non-native speakers.
During lessons my main aim is to help students increase their confidence when speaking and help them develop fluency and strategies to keep their conversation going.
I have always been passionate about language and how it is acquired and hope that my love of words, language and books will “rub-off” on those whom I teach. I’m passionate about teaching and being involved with students has illuminated and enriched my life.
